The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported that as of midnight on Wednesday, May 18, 61 new cases of COVID-19 in Cuba, thanks to the analysis of 5,323 samples during the day.
The most recent part of the institution also indicates that there were no deaths related to the disease. In this way, the number of deaths since the start of the pandemic remains at 8,529, which represents a fatality rate of 0.77%.

1,804 people are admitted, of which 1,422 are suspected of having been infected with the SARS-Cov-2 virus, another 35 under epidemiological surveillance, while the confirmed active ones stand at 347.
Of the total number of cases (39 are women and 22 men), 55 were contacts of confirmed cases, two had their source of infection abroad and four patients remained unaware of their route of infection.
In terms of age, 19 are under 20 years old, another 11 are between 20 and 39 years old, 17 in the range of 40 to 59 and 14 are over 60 years old.
Except for Granma, all the provinces reported coronavirus patients, but none exceeded ten. Camagüey with nine and Villa Clara with seven were the most affected.
The Minsap also reported that 110 clinical discharges were granted on the day, and the two evacuated at the beginning of the pandemic and the 57 foreigners returned to their countries remain.
For now, three patients remained in intensive care units, one of them in critical condition and two reported as serious.
