The Senate approved today (18) the regulation of the professional identity of radio broadcasters. With this, the document can be used as a valid identity throughout the national territory. The project goes to presidential sanction.
According to the approved text, the document must be issued by the union of the category. If there is no such union in the professional’s area of activity, the card may be issued by a federation duly accredited and registered with the Ministry of Labor.
It is not necessary for the broadcaster to be unionized to be entitled to the document. It is enough for it to be qualified and registered with the regional body of the Ministry of Labor under the terms of the legislation that regulates the professional activity.
Procedure
The regulation of the identity document for radio broadcasters was delayed in processing. The proposal had already passed through three commissions, but a provisional measure (MP) edited by the government in 2019, influenced the progress of the project that creates the portfolio of radio broadcasters. The MP created the Green and Yellow Contract and made other changes in labor legislation and the same committees that the project had passed feared that the MP would invalidate it.
Later arguments by Jorge Kajuru (Podemos-GO) and Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE), rapporteurs for the project in the Social Affairs Commissions (CAS) and in the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), respectively, showed that the MP had no relationship with the project. In addition, Carvalho recalled that the MP ceased to be valid because it was not voted on by Congress within the deadline.
