Republican Party announces constitutional accusation against Minister Izkia Siches

A group of parliamentarians from the Republican Party announced that they will present a constitutional accusation against the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, alluding to the fact that the Secretary of State “is not fulfilling her duties.”

Deputy Mauricio Ojeda alluded to the fact that “it is not possible for us to be confronted with crime, hired assassins and drug trafficking throughout the country,” pointing to shortcomings in national security. Along the same lines, his peer, Luis Sánchez, reported that “the definition has already been taken”, so it will be presented next week.

Parliamentarian Cristián Araya maintained that “the government does not have an interior minister. And that is very serious, because the person who has supposedly held that position for two months has never assumed it.”

“There is no management in the Ministry of the Interior, with a person who is not fulfilling his obligations, and who has the country plunged into a chaotic situation in terms of security,” he said.

However, the parliamentarians commented that they do not have the support of the rest of the opposition parties and that until now, they have not written the text with the arguments that they will present before Congress.
