UN expresses concern about violent incidents in elections in Venezuela

The UN Office for Human Rights stated that although in general the elections in Venezuela were carried out peacefullya, their representatives received complaints from some violent incidents.

It speaks specifically of an armed attack that left one dead and two injured at a voting center in Zulia. And also of restrictions on journalists trying to cover the day.

He also mentions that he received worrying information, with audios circulating on social networks, which suggest that the public employees were pressured to vote for a political party.

The UN asked to investigate if these accusations are true to analyze the legitimacy of the elections in which the ruling party won in most of the country.

These complaints were also received by the NGO Human Rights Watch, who asked to have more information from witnesses and is already investigating the facts. The European Union will present this Tuesday the report of its Electoral Observation mission.
