The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Robert Sanchezaffirmed this Sunday that the current situation of conflict between the communities and the mining company The Bambas it cannot continue to spread.
“Given this, the only solution mechanisms are: the law, dialogue and understanding”, he highlighted in conversations with representatives of the communities in Challhuahuacho (Apurímac).
For this reason, Sánchez indicated that “The idea is to restore dialogue, directly, with respect to the communities and their consultation mechanisms; if it is today or tomorrow we are with the same availability, because I believe that no Peruvian, apurimeño or community member of Chalhuahuacho wants this situation that affects the families of the communities to continue”.
The head of the Mincetur maintained that there is a concern that families return with social peace to their regular activity, to work and their local companies; but also that they can return to productive activities, because that means thinking about the region and the country.
“We also have the law, which regulates our communities, us as a government and private companies. Because nobody can impose irrationalities. (…) Dialogue is fundamental and with the force of reason, we need to stop this situation and restart productive activities”, said the minister.
The head of the Mincetur was today in the district of Challhuahuacho, Cotabambas (Apurímac), to continue the policy of dialogue with the communities, led by President Pedro Castillo and implemented by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).
The head of Mincetur was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Territorial Governance, the Secretary of Social Management and Dialogue of the PCM and a representative of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
It should be noted that the operations of the copper mine have been suspended since last April 14 due to conflicts with communities.
