President Iván Duque signed the decrees that regulate the new salary scale for the base of the Police, in which incentives and benefits are established for patrol officers and executive-level personnel of the institution.
(‘Green light’, in the first debate, to reform the Police).
According to the decree, every active police patrolman will be entitled to receive remuneration based on three components: distinctions, excellence and family bonus, the latter would be every two months.
Regarding the distinction, the increase for patrol cars will be as follows: “10% of the basic allocation, from the granting of the first distinction. Additional 10%, from the granting of the second distinction. 5% additional, from the granting of the third distinction, fourth distinction and fifth distinction”.
It should be clarified that the decree specifies that the distinction will be recognized without it exceeding 35%.

On the other hand, according to article 6, the bonus of excellence will be granted to the patrolman who for five years has not “been disciplined or criminally convicted.” They will get paid “a remuneration equivalent to three basic allowances”.
Finally, the family bonus would be every two months as follows: “Married or with a de facto marital union and widowers with children born within the marriage or de facto marital union for which there is the right to accrue it would be 30%”.
In addition, any of the patrolmen who fall into this category will receive 3% for the first child and 2% for the second child, “Without exceeding five percent 5% for this concept.”
According to an interview that Defense Minister Diego Molano gave to ‘Blu Radio’, with the new adjustments, the police will earn around 2,400,000 pesos.
