Militaryly attacking the José Antonio Anzoátegui Division General Petrochemical and Industrial Complex, located in Barcelona, Anzoátegui state, was one of the objectives of US President Donald Trump, to end the government of President Nicolás Maduro.
This information comes from messages published by the Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations Organization (UN), Samuel Moncada, who through his account on the social network Twitter, offered details about the complaint made days ago by Mark Esper Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration.
Recently, Esper assured the US media that Trump’s advisers proposed two military invasions in his last year in office: one against Venezuela and the other against Iran, as well as carrying out a total blockade against Cuba.
“What follows is one of many confessions from Mark Esper, US Secretary of Defense during the Trump administration. All Venezuelans must know these facts to understand the threat we still face today,” Moncada said on Twitter.
With data extracted from Esper’s book, entitled “A Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Secretary of Defense in Extraordinary Times”, the Venezuelan Ambassador gives an account of the plans against Venezuela by the administration of tycoon Donald Trump.
In this sense, Moncada argues that “on June 9, 2020, at a meeting of the National Security Council, Robert O’Brien, presidential adviser, proposed a military attack on the Jose Refining Complex in eastern Venezuela. This is how Esper himself confesses that he was at the meeting ”.
“O’Brien went straight for the jugular, proposing a military attack on (redacted part), a seaport in northwestern Venezuela, where a large complex of loading and unloading oil product ships is located,” reads one of the messages published by Moncada, when translating one of the extracts from the book.
Faced with this confession, Ambassador Moncada emphasized that “the tactical objective was to paralyze Venezuela’s oil economy and, with the chaos and popular suffering, achieve the strategic objective: overthrow President Maduro and impose Juan Guaidó as head of government.”
“If the ships are so difficult to intercept, then we should study the possibility of making the port where they unload their cargo useless, he argued. This would further disrupt oil supplies and spark more discontent,” the National Security Agency said, reads another part of the book.
Moncada continued, “the operation would be carried out with an air attack on the oil complex or an amphibious attack with special troops from the US Navy. The act of war complied with ongoing calls for military action that Trump has demanded since 2017.”
“Secretary Esper, Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley, and CIA Director Haspel agreed that the attack was a counterproductive act of war because it would unite the people in defense of President Maduro,” Moncada said.
Faced with this decision and confession embodied in the document, the Venezuelan ambassador stated: “That group did not approve the military attack and proposed attacks with cybernetic operations (on the digital control systems of the economic infrastructure) and clandestine operations supported by the United States but executed by the opposition within Venezuela.
Moncada concludes by pointing out: “General Milley also proposed irregular warfare operations (such as the Nicaraguan contras) carried out by Venezuelan mercenaries trained in Colombia. That idea was proposed to Guaidó several times in the meeting with Trump at the White House on February 5, 2020.”
