Vice President Delcy Rodríguez met with Mohammad Barkindo

The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, welcomed this Wednesday the Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mohammad Barkindo.

At the headquarters of the Vice Presidency in Caracas, both authorities met as part of the official visit made by Barkindo to Venezuela, who will complete his mandate in the General Secretariat of the organization next August.

The Executive Vice President attended Barkindo and the delegation that arrived in the country on May 6, offering her recognition to the professional career of the senior visitor in the organization that brings together the main nations of Africa and the Middle East, reported the State channel.

The high-ranking leader of the international oil bloc is in Venezuela to receive honors for his work and performance and to strengthen relations with one of the founding countries of OPEC in 1960. In addition, to thank the national authorities for the defense they have made from the block over the years.

In the tribute to his entire career in the position of OPEC, held this week in Caracas, Barkindo has expressed his desire “to continue supporting and defending ideas and continue protecting the interests of Venezuela.”

The Secretary General of OPEC has described as valuable the role of the Bolivarian Republic as a fundamental actor in the oil organization since its foundation, as well as in recent historic events and in the difficult times of the coronavirus pandemic.

In post-pandemic times, Barkindo exchanges with the Executive Vice President the essential issues that have allowed the world’s energy balance, especially with the alliance between OPEC and OPEC Plus, which brings together member countries with oil-producing nations such as Russia .
