Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader returned to the country after concluding a work agenda in Costa Rica where the president attended the inauguration of President-elect Rodrigo Chaves Robles.

The head of state returned to the country at 8:43 p.m. this Sunday on a private flight from Costa Rica through the San Isidro Air Base and was received by Vice President Raquel Peña; the Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD; the head of the Air Force, Major General Leonel Amílcar Muñoz Noboa, FARD and the commander of the Presidential Guard, Brigadier General Guillermo Caro Cruz, ERD, among other officials.

Likewise, Mortimel de Jesús Eusebio, deputy commander of the Air Force; the commander of the San Isidro Air Base, Rafael Augusto Acosta Sena; the general director of the Specialized Body for Airport Security and Civil Aviation, Carlos R. Febrillet Rodríguez and the director of the Specialized Body for Tourist Security (Cestur), Brigadier General Minoru Matsunaga.

Agenda developed by President Abinader in Costa Rica

Upon his arrival in Costa Rica last Saturday, May 7, the president went to the regional offices of Microsoft, where he met the CEO of the company in that country, Daniel Versweyvel, and the free zone model developed there.

Upon his departure from Microsoft, the Dominican president participated in a meeting with Jorge Sequeira, director of the Costa Rican Coalition for Development Initiatives (CINDE), a private public agency for foreign investment and promotion.

On the afternoon of the aforementioned day, President Abinader visited Escazú Avenue to learn about the most ambitious urban transformation project of the Real Estate Portfolio. Later, he held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Mr. Gilmar Pisas, Prime Minister of Curaçao. At the end, he continued with a bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Mrs. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, President of Kosovo.

The head of state also met prior to his inauguration, with the elected president of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, in his private offices in downtown San José.

Both discussed various topics, including the world situation, the problems of the region and the Alliance for Development in Democracy that integrates, in addition to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, Panama.

Both President Abinader and Chaves Robles showed interest in their conversation about the need to strengthen relations between the two countries.

In the evening, the Dominican president participated in the dinner in honor of the heads of state and government who attended the presidential broadcast offered by the outgoing president of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quezada.

Sunday’s agenda for President Abinander began by attending the Solemn Session of the transition of the Presidential Command of the elected president of Costa Rica, Chaves Robles.

The president, prior to his entrance, spoke with leaders of other countries, including his counterpart from Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez.

The act of transfer took place in the Legislative Assembly located in the capital of that country.

In the afternoon, the Dominican president was present at a reception offered by the Costa Rican president in honor of the heads of delegation.

At the end of his visit to Costa Rica, President Abinader held a bilateral meeting with the President of Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez, where they signed several agreements on pending issues from Duque’s recent visit to the country.

The details will be released later by the Foreign Ministry.

President Abinader was accompanied by a delegation made up of the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza; the Foreign Minister, Roberto Álvarez; the deputy head of the Presidential Security Corps, Brigadier General Jimmy Arias Grullón, ERD; the president’s press director, Daniel García Archibald, and assistants to the head of state, Eilyn Beltrán and Mercedes Pichardo.
