Eight Turks, 8 Haitians and a Dominican driver are kidnapped by a gang in Haiti

Ocho turcos, 8 haitianos y chofer dominicanos son los secuestrados por banda en Haití

SANTO DOMINGO.- The people kidnapped in Haiti who were being transported in a Dominican Metro tourist transport bus were eight missionaries from Turkey, eight Haitians and the driver who was Dominican.

The kidnapped Turkish missionaries have been identified as Efil Onur, Kont Semiih, Kilic Sewa, Dorgan Beyer, Ayden Bedia, Kormaz Ibrahim, Candan Mesut and Torun Ramazan.

While the Haitians kidnapped are the passengers Presan Christopher, Murat Pierre Andre, Nelson Ketia, Jeune Abraham, Luis Mendes, Juin Bleck Leandro and Pierre Mackeny, as well as the stewardess Yveca Juvensta Sylvestre. The only Dominican among those kidnapped is the bus driver, Martín Castro.

The Haitian and Dominican authorities have information that the kidnapping was produced by the “400 Mawozo” gang in the town known as. “Papay” (Papaya), from the Coriz Des Bouquet district, in exactly the same area where a little over a week ago that group kidnapped the Dominican diplomat Carlos Guillén Tatis.

The bus carried out the check-in process for its departure from Dominican territory at about 4:00 pm on Sunday with 17 people on board, of which only the driver is Dominican, eight are Turkish and 8 are Haitian.

The kidnapping occurred in the town known as “Papay”, in the Corix Des Bouquet District.

The Dominican and Haitian authorities have not yet determined whether the eight kidnapped Turkish missionaries are Muslims who are supporting the expansion of that religion in Haiti. The proliferation of Muslim mosques, many of which are supported by Turkish NGOs, has been notorious.
