Sales of new motor vehicles fell by 6.07% in April compared to the same month last year. 270,560 vehicles were sold, compared to 288,045 in April 2021. Compared to last March, the decline was smaller, at 1.11%. Already in the year (January to April), sales total 996,900 units, 7.18% less than recorded in the same period last year. The data released today (3) are from the National Federation of Automotive Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).
“We have noticed a gradual recovery in license plates. Although we are still in a retraction, in the year, we noticed that, at the end of the first two months of 2022, the volume was about 13% lower compared to the same period in 2021. Now, the retraction has dropped to just over 7% , which signals a resumption movement”, highlighted the president of Fenabrave, Andreta Jr.

Sales of automobiles and light commercial vehicles fell by 16.8% in April, compared to the same month last year. In relation to March, there was an increase of 1.08%. Year-to-date (January to April), the decline was 22.8% compared to the same period last year.
Truck sales also fell in April: sales were 4.4% lower than in the same month of 2021. Compared to March 2022, the drop was 7.4%. Year-to-date, the decline was 1.57%.
Motorcycles had an increase in sales of 13.7% in April compared to the same month of 2021. Compared to March 2022, there was a drop of 2.13%. Year-to-date (from January to April), the sale of motorcycles increased by 27.4%.
Tractors and agricultural machinery, as they are not licensed, present data with a one-month lag. In March, sales were 16.7% higher than in the same month of 2021. In relation to February, there was a drop of 7%. Already in the accumulated of the year (January to March), it was registered an increase of 29.9% in sales.
