The General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional Services (DGSPC) reported that two prison officers were released who had been held today at the El Pinito Correction and Rehabilitation Center, in La Vega, by 7 prisoners who demanded their transfer to an unreformed facility.
The preliminary report shows that the incident was resolved peacefully with the intervention of an agent of the High Risk Transfer Unit (UTAR) and the highest authorities of the DGSPC.
Victor Jose Acero Vicente, deputy director of security of the center and the agent in charge Yancarlo Salvador Carvajal were making a round of module 5 of the CCR, around 10:30 in the morning, when they were ambushed and kidnapped by the seven inmates who released them around 1:00 pm.

The deprived of liberty involved in the kidnapping of the VTP agents are serving coercive measures for different crimes while one is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
The Public ministry de La Vega launched an investigation and will file kidnapping charges against all those involved.
The DGSPC regretted the fact and valued the intervention of the prosecution and the staff of the National Police of La Vega.
