“GetNet, Santander Mexico’s contactless platform, received the Platinum Award for the implementation of the infrastructure with the highest specifications in security and technology, allowing contactless payments with credit cards, debit cards, smartphones and smart watches in the Metrobús de Mexico City,” the bank reported in its quarterly report.
Since its launch in September 2021, the bank has processed more than 800,000 payments this way. The implementation of this technology was in association with Visa and Condunet.
From January to March, the bank’s credit portfolio reported a balance of 770.44 billion pesos, which means an increase of 7.9% compared to the same period in 2021.
The portfolio benefited from the increase in credit card placement. “We experienced a strong recovery, especially in credit cards. The renewed growth was mainly due to the strong performance of our Like U card,” said Héctor Grisi, the bank’s CEO.
The increase in the placement of credit cards was 6.6% while mortgage loans had an increase of 11.4%.
