The heavy rains recorded in West Panama this afternoon affected sectors of the Mastranto area, flooding several homes and a street had to be closed. Members of the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) have carried out inspection tours in the area.

“In the province of Panamá Oeste we maintained damages due to inclement weather. We maintained eight situations: a tree fell in the Arraiján sector, specifically in Chapala, a collapsed structure in El Coco, a landslide in the La Industrial sector in Barrio Colon, five houses with water introduction in Mastranto final, and they were visited and humanitarian aid is being delivered at the moment” reported Rodrigo Pinzón, representative of SINAPROC Panamá Oeste.

The Provisional Supply Market, located on the grounds of the Chorrera Fair, was also affected by the introduction of water and other effects, where vendors reported the loss of several products. Likewise, the cleaning day of their cubicles has already been carried out.

´´There is a compromised road in the final Mastranto sector and it was cordoned off with a precautionary band where we closed its use since it is extremely dangerous that it continues to be used by residents. Coordination is already being made with the MOP staff and the Municipality to see the corrective measures that have to be made in the aforementioned road”, he pointed out.

SINAPROC recommends that the population take shelter in a safe place, especially children and older adults, when these climatic situations occur.
