Congress: Board of Spokespersons agreed to avoid insults or discuss personal issues in plenary

The Board of Speakers of the Congress of the republic agreed to avoid insults or dealing with personal issues in plenary, after the incidents that occurred on the morning of this Thursday, April 28, in the hemicycle.

This was announced by the President of the Parliament, Maria del Carmen Alva (Popular Action), who indicated that the opinions of the spokespersons of the different groups about what happened were heard at the meeting.

Alva Prieto also mentioned that Vice Admiral and former Vice President of the Republic Luis Giampietri “He deserves all the respect of the national representation” for being one of the Chavín de Huántar commandos.

“We have had a meeting in the Board of Spokespersons in which the opinions of the spokespersons of the different benches were heard regarding the incidents that occurred during the morning plenary session today. We have reached a consensus not to insult or deal with personal or other issues on the Congress premises”he expressed.

“Today a ceremony was held in which we remember the 25th anniversary of this important event. In this ceremony, Vice Admiral Luis Giampietri was distinguished, who deserves all the respect of the national representation. We reiterate the call to deal with the issues of interest to the Congress of the Republic and respect our heroes of democracy”he added.

As it is recalled, a strong incident was reported this morning in the plenary session of Congress, after Giampietri charged legislator with attempted murder William Bermejo (Democratic Peru) and he responded by calling it “unhappy”.

The impasse started when Red Bermejo asserted that everything affirmed by Luis Giampietri was false and that the Vice Admiral was also accused of violating human rights and acts of corruption.
