Despite the latest attack attributed to the armed group against members of the Joint Task Force, spokesman Lt. Col. Luis Apesteguía assures that the EPP is strategically defeated.
Three soldiers were injured yesterday in Concepción, after being attacked with an explosive when they were driving a mobile and making a routine tour of the area.
“Strategically, they are practically defeated, even though they tell me that they have the capacity to hit us in this way, but they do not have the capacity at this point to recruit men to increase their weapons capacity as well,” said Lt. Col. Luis Apesteguía, spokesman for the Joint Task Force, in an interview with 730 AM.
He added that the members of the armed gang find it very difficult to continue and that proof of this is that they are “refugees” in a sector of indigenous colonies, given that they can no longer add peasants to their ranks.
Apesteguía indicated that in the United States there are also bombs and attacks, but that does not mean that the forces of that country are defeated.
The Lt. Col. He indicated that other countries with more economic capacity than Paraguay took years to eradicate this type of group.
Asked about how the EPP continues to be financed, he maintained that criminals would continue to extort money from ranchers, many of whom do not file complaints for fear of reprisals. In addition, they use the indigenous people as a source of information.
