With the assistance of the Vice President Rachel PenaThe First Lady Rachel Arbajegovernment officials and representatives of business associations, the president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Mauricio Claver–Caroneinaugurated the representative office of the institution in the country, located at the intersection of the Cesar Nicolas Penson and Leopoldo Navarrofrom the Gascue sector.
The building, considered by the National Directorate of Monumental Heritage as an infrastructure of historical value, has the highest standards of international certification “LEED Platinum”which recognizes leadership in energy and environmental design.
Claver-Carone stressed that “the new IDB headquarters in the Dominican Republic reflects not only our commitment to the country, but also our environmental commitment and our vision of sustainable development for the entire region.”
This is the first infrastructure in the country and in the IDB’s offices throughout the region to obtain certification “LEED Platinum”thanks to energy optimization, the use of recycled materials or intelligent water consumption, among other techniques that contribute to improve environmental performance.

The inauguration was attended by the Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Officer of the IDB, Jessica Bedoya; representative of the IDB Group in the country, Katharina Falkner–Olmedo; the finance minister, Joseph Vincent.
The minister does not care
The Minister of Finance, Joseph Manuel Vincentaffirmed yesterday that he is not concerned that more than 40% of tax revenue used to pay the service of the public debt.
He recalled that in his speech before the American Chamber of Commerce he spoke about the issue of the country’s indebtedness.
He stated that this is not the time to talk about fiscal pact or tax reformbecause the current focus of the government is how to cope with the crisis generated by the war between Russia and Ukraine.
