A nursing home caught fire in Villa Urquiza: at least three dead

At least three women died tonight when a nursing home caught fire in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Urquiza, while three other older men were transferred to different hospitals with injuries of different considerations.police sources reported.

The incident occurred at the “Hogar Pehuén” establishment, located at 2130 Bauness Street, and when the firefighters arrived, the evacuation tasks began.

The firefighters found three older adult women deceased on the first and second floors, while three older men were transferred by the Same, two of them to the Tornú Hospital and one to the Zubizarreta.

Firefighters found that “the focus of the fire originated on the first floor, in two rooms intended for bedrooms”and while the causes of the incident are being investigated, the teams continued to work in the building.

The nursing home “has the corresponding authorization. The Government Control Agency carried out the corresponding inspection about a month ago and only minor irregularities were detected,” informed the Government of the City of Buenos Aires.
