Conclude interviews with applicants for the Ombudsman's Office; seven candidates go to the election in the Legislative Assembly

The Mixed Commission of Constitution completed the period of interviews with the applicants to lead the Ombudsman’s Office. Seven candidates have passed the last of the selection phases and will be presented to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly for the election of the new Ombudsman. It is expected that, until Tuesday, the mixed commission will submit the evaluation report of the candidates.

The next stage will define which of the seven applicants will be chosen as Ombudsman. The determination must be assumed by 2/3 of the legislature.

The deputy of the Citizen Community Jairo Guiteras appeals to the consensus to define the new authority. “NNone of the political forces has 2/3, which forces us to seek consensus for the appointment of the new Ombudsman,” he stresses.

Before the vote, the Assembly will assess the reports presented by the Joint Constitutional Commission, which includes the resumes of the applicants, as well as the results of the interviews. The sessions, Guiteras recalls, will be “by time and matter” until reaching the final agreement.

This morning four candidates appeared before the commission to advance with the last of the evaluation tests: the interview. Rubén Julio Estrada Candia, Ramiro Leonardo Iquise Pally, Marco Antonio Loayza and Marcelino Marco Lucero León defended their projects.

In the afternoon it was the turn of Porfirio Machado Gisbert, Jafeth Esteban Mamani Yanarico, Juan Patricio Quispe Mamani and Juan RevolloValencia.
