Santo Domingo.- The vice president Rachel Pena began this Tuesday the readjustment and renovation works of the Doctora Evangelina Rodríguez Maternity Hospital (for Dominican Women), with an investment of RD$202 million 485 thousand 839 pesos, according to Palacio.
The head of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Mario Lama, who accompanied the vice president during the first palazo, explained that the intervention of the aforementioned hospital includes the surgical block, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for adults, the Neonatal Unit, Neonatal ICU for inpatients, consultation area, rooms and kitchen.
On the first floor, a totally independent vaccination area with a waiting room will be built, the kitchen will be remodeled and adapted.
Likewise, on the second floor, the surgical block will be renovated, which will have seven pre-delivery beds, with an internal nursing station; six postpartum beds, three delivery rooms, each with a care area for newborns; four operating rooms, changing rooms for medical personnel with a sanitary lock (space for entry and exit) towards the aseptic areas.
At the aforementioned level, the adult ICU will also be intervened, which will have four beds, a nursing station with independent sterile and non-sterile work. The Neonatal Unit will have 16 cribs for newborns, an isolated area with two incubators and a nursing station, with independent sterile and non-sterile work.
While the Neonatal ICU for inpatients will have an area for ten incubators, three cervocunas and a space for isolation, a nursing station, with independent sterile and non-sterile work; an outpatient area with an incubator, cervocuna and work space for medical staff. The sterilization center will be completely remodeled, contemplating the spaces for classification, washing, autoclave and packaging area.
While on the third floor, 18 medical offices will be rehabilitated with waiting rooms and customer service, while on the fourth and fifth floors, 15 rooms per level will be rehabilitated, for a total of 30 and a nursing station on each floor. Power and air conditioning repair services will also be carried out at a general level.
The deputy president highlighted the importance of the start of the renovation works in this hospital. “For years we had witnessed the deterioration of health centers, we have made an effort to repair and strengthen them, with the purpose of having a more robust health system to be able to respond to the needs of Dominicans. It is our priority that those who need care receive it in the best conditions, ”she specified.
Repair ceilings hospitals Ney Arias Lora and Hugo Mendoza
The vice president and coordinator of the Health Cabinet also delivered the Guarantee certificates for the repair work on the roofs of the Doctor Ney Arias Lora Traumatological and Doctor Hugo Mendoza Pediatric hospitals, with an investment of RD$31 million 512 thousand 240.34 pesos.
With the aforementioned amount, the SNS carried out a general repair of all the roofs of both hospitals, which included repair of fine and waterproofing.
In the case of Ney Arias Lora, RD$15,571,931.02 was allocated, while for Hugo Mendoza the budget amounted to RD$15,940,309.32.
Lama indicated that the intervention in these three hospitals and others that are in the process of being renovated and that will be delivered in the remainder of the administration, are part of a strategy that the Government implements with the objective of ensuring a better quality of life for the Dominicans, through the strengthening of care in the centers of the Public Health Network.
