“Even my ex was more sincere than the MINSA (Ministry of Health), “Not even my ex excited me as much as the boarding school”, were phrases that the young internists of the professions of Nursing and Obstetrics of the National University of Huancavelica (UNH) , they exclaimed as part of the protest carried out by the students who are in the internship stage, and who, due to the lack of guidelines, will not be able to start their internship on May 1 of this year.
While the delegates of the internists talked with the representatives of the Regional Health Directorate (DIRESA) of Huancavelica, the doctor Javier Correa (director of the Regional Hospital of Huancavelica) expressed his willingness to support the internists.
PROTEST BY INTERNISTS AGAINST THE DIRESA
It was after 10:00 am when students protested outside the Huancavelica DIRESA.
“With the Directorate of Health they sent us a schedule for the 100 internists (50 from Nursing and 50 from Obstetrics), according to which the internship should start on May 1st. The registration was done, and all the steps, but we stayed at point 8, because we are waiting for the guidelines, which come from MINSA at the national level, “said Denis Ordóñez (25), a member of the interns of the Faculty of Nursing at UNH.
He added: “Without the guidelines, unfortunately the DIRESA will not be able to give us the resolving acts of inmates. So, we are waiting and we are marching along these guidelines.”

The young intern explained that these guidelines allow a subsidy and the delivery of Sanitary Personal Protection Equipment (EPS).
“What MINSA communicates to us is that these guidelines were sent to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) because now it does require a budget, and the MEF is playing “crazy”, and is waiting for the end of the emergency decree for the pandemic so that the subsidy is removed, which is a right that has been acquired during the pandemic,” said Ordóñez.
He added: “We want these guidelines to be forever, so that, from now on, internists maintain this right permanently, because students are distributed to different establishments, even outside the city, where they need to pay for accommodation and food. ”.

Also, it was during the protest that the doctor Correa gave his cell phone number to the students because they needed some support. “In one way or another, we have to see and solve the need for internships because they are future professionals that allow us to provide quality care to our patients in health establishments,” said the director.
He reported: “Every health professional has been an intern, I have been an intern, and in the internship the skills that are taught at the university are developed, and the internship is the most important year of a health professional, because then one enters to the SERUMS (Rural and Marginal Urban Health Service) and there one must defend oneself”.
For today the internists have scheduled a meeting with DIRESA, since yesterday they agreed that the management would monitor the status of the guidelines.
