One thousand 402 packages of cocaine were seized in two simultaneous operations of maritime, air and land interdiction, yesterday Monday on the coasts of San Pedro de Macorís and Santo Domingo.
The seizure of the drug was part of a joint operation by the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), with the support of the Dominican Republic Navy, the Air Force and State intelligence agencies under the coordination of the Public Ministry.
The information supplied by the DNCD reports that in a first operation anti-drug agents and military personnel mounted an operation by air, sea and land, where they sighted the occupants of a boat several nautical miles south of the province of San Pedro de Macorís, which was intercepted .
After inspecting the boat of about 25 feet in length, 23 bales containing 659 packages of cocaine were seized and four men (two Dominicans, one Colombian and one Venezuelan) were arrested.

In the joint operation, which lasted just over 16 hours, two outboard motors of 75 Hp each, nine jugs of fuel, a nine-millimeter caliber pistol with several capsules, among other evidence, were also seized.
In a second operation, the DNCD, the Navy and the Air Force began an operation to interdict the occupants of a Gofast-type speedboat south of Santo Domingo, where after several hours of pursuit the boat was intercepted.
Once the 35-foot-long boat was boarded, four Venezuelans were arrested and 25 bags with 743 packages of cocaine, two outboard motors of 115 Hp each, three jugs and eleven tanks were seized inside.
“The seizure of these 1.4-ton caches is the result of the DNCD’s broad and close cooperation with the Navy, Air Force, Army, Police, State Intelligence agencies and the Attorney General’s Office,” he says. the notice.
The Public Ministry and the DNCD are trying to establish if the cases are related in any way, while there are reports that both vessels would have reached Dominican coasts from South America.
The statement shows that the authorities continue to hit the national and international drug trafficking structures that try to use Dominican territory for their illicit activities, actions that have allowed the confiscation of more than 12 tons of cocaine in the last four months, as well as the arrest of members of networks dedicated to organized crime.
The seized drug packages were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF).
