Dominican Republic has challenges and opportunities in the development of an offer based on community tourism in order to contribute to the exponential growth of communities rich in natural, historical, and cultural resources, generating income through these resources and attractions under the three pillars of tourism sustainablee: social, economic and environmental.
This was stated by the speakers at the event “Responsible tourism and community leadership in the Dominican Republic,” organized by Agora Mall and Nateevos.
They highlighted that this creates strengthening and growth of the economy in the communities and showed the examples of the projects Jamao Eco Tours in the Espaillat province, Luna Herrera Travel in Los Cacaos, San Cristóbal province, as well as the Nateevos community tourism promotion platform in the country’s provinces.

DATE will have 40 markets of tourist issuers
The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores) announced that the fair “Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE)”in its twenty-second version, will welcome 25 top 40 countries issuing markets of tourists visiting the country.
DATE is the main trade show of the local tourist product that will be held on May 11 to 13at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center, Punta Cana.
Raphael White Tejerapresident of Asonahores, expressed that the association seeks through DATE to strengthen the tourism sector growth to increase the flow of tourists and continue contributing to the national economic recovery.
“We are promoting our main fair to expose to a large group of tour operators the best of the country’s tourist and complementary offer and facilitate expansion and investment opportunities,” he said.
Asonahores indicated that during the event they will receive more than 150 companies among suppliers and buyers from 25 countries of the main issuing markets who will be in contact with the different segments and the great diversity of attractions offered by the Dominican tourism product.
