SANTO DOMINGO.- The authorities are carrying out an extensive search operation for a prisoner taken by three armed individuals, in an apparent kidnapping, from a funeral home located on Padre Castellanos Avenue, in this capital.
The General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional Services (DGSPC) reported that it immediately began, with the National Police, a joint operation to search for and capture Adolfo Delan Morel Pérez, 20 years old, who is in prison for robbery and other crimes. .
The DGSPC explained that Morel Pérez had processed a prison permit to attend his mother’s wake.
The incident occurred around 4:00 pm this Friday, according to the preliminary report of the agents who were guarding Morel Pérez, who was being held in prison at the Higüey Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
The officers who were guarding him were unharmed because the gun of the alleged kidnapper who tried to shoot them jammed.
The alleged kidnappers fled in the direction of the eastern zone in a white car with tinted windows.
The DGSPC announced that it will reinforce its protocols for the transfer of prisoners who are required to attend funeral acts of direct relatives.
