An attack of jealousy ended the life of Rosmary Andrade, a 15-year-old Venezuelan woman, who was murdered by her partner by causing a stab wound to her neck.
In a police operation, the alleged perpetrator Andrés David Gutiérrez Hernández was captured, who was left at the disposal of the Immediate Reaction Unit of the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of femicide, reports the newspaper Hoy de Magdalena.
Similarly, the officers in charge of the apprehension point out that the sharp object with which he committed the murder was found on Gutiérrez Hernández and he admitted that he had been responsible for ending the life of his sentimental partner.
“At the time of his capture, evidence was found in his possession that allowed him to be held responsible and presented to the Prosecutor’s Office and, in turn, before a Control and Guarantees Judge in the municipality of El Banco. Since the day before, the authorities have been carrying out the legalization of his capture, the imputation of charges for Aggravated Femicide in a minor under 15 years of age and the import of the measure, ”indicates a spokesman for the Judicial Police.
Colombian media report that the lifeless body of the Venezuelan woman was found on April 18 in a vacant lot in the Altos de Alfaro sector, at the height of the road that connects the municipalities of El Banco in the department of Magdalena, towards the municipality of Chimichagua in the department of Cesar.
The young victim is the daughter of José Andrade, a humble vendor in the sector who works in the El Chato fruit and vegetable business.
According to information from the Departmental Police, the finding was reported by a citizen who was passing by and immediately called the police emergency line to report the case.
It should be noted that in Magdalena the rate of violence against women and the increase in femicides have been increasing, according to a report by the Colombian Attorney General’s Office.
The human rights defender and director of the Magdalena Broad Front for Women foundation, Jennifer del Toro, warns that by 2021 more than 900 women in the department reported being victims of violence and that in 2020 the figure exceeded 800 cases.
