The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, participated in the opening of the first Reference Center for Social Policies in Uruguay, located in the city of Salto. The head of the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), Martín Lema, highlighted the articulation, complementation and integration of the services provided by the device, which will focus on users of social plans and will include medical care.
The building includes a set of public offices, including the Ministries of Social Development and Transportation, the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU) and the Administration of State Health Services (ASSE), as well as other dependencies that they seek to develop public policies together.
Sports activities can also be carried out on the property, such as soccer and boxing, in charge of programs of the National Sports Secretariat (SND).
In his oratory, Lema explained that it is a special day for the portfolio he directs, since inter-institutional coordination is one of the objectives of the organization, governing social policies, so as not to monopolize them. “A comprehensive approach is aimed at strengthening care. The articulation, complementation and integration in the services and territorial actions serve to be better”, he emphasized.
The chief indicated that this center will provide services from the Uruguay Crece Contigo and Accesos programs, and care for the elderly, monotributistas and entrepreneurs.
In addition, he pointed out the importance of working together with the INAU and explained that in Salto 1,700 households receive the Bono Crianza for comprehensive assistance in early childhood. He also pointed out that in the city there are 6,700 households that receive the UTE social bonus, with discounts of up to 90% from January 2022.
Lema highlighted the joint work with the Social Security Bank to eliminate the income ceiling to receive family allowances in the Equity Plan and clarified that more than 11,000 households receive this benefit in the department of Salto.
Meanwhile, the National Director of Architecture of the Ministry of Transport, Santiago Borsari, mentioned the relevance of concentrating public policies at the headquarters and working in a decentralized manner, which allows users to find comprehensive answers. The second activity carried out by the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, in Salto was to visit and talk with managers and officials from the packaging sector of the company Naranjales Guarino Hermanos. On this occasion, the president was accompanied by the secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, and the mayor of Salto, Andrés Lima.
The firm, which employs some 300 people, markets and exports various citrus species, such as mandarin, orange, lemon, grapefruit, clementine and satsuma.
