In a letter sent to Joe Biden, a call was made to prohibit the attendance at the Summit of representatives of the regimes of Miguel Díaz-Canel in Cuba, Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela and Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.
Republican Senator Rick Scott, accompanied by his colleague Marco Rubio and Congressmen Mario Díaz-Balart, María Elvira Salazar, Carlos Giménez and Mike Waltz, sent a letter to US President Joe Biden, in which they ask to invite Juan Guaidó to the Summit of the Americas, organized by the United States and that will take place in the city of Los Angeles in the week of June 6 to 10, 2022.
In a letter sent to Biden this Wednesday, April 20, a call was made for him to prohibit attendance at the Summit of representatives of the regimes of Miguel Díaz-Canel in Cuba, Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela and Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.
“Today we write to you to urge you to invite Juan Guaidó, the president democratically elected by the National Assembly of Venezuela, to attend the Summit. President Guaidó is the legitimate leader of Venezuela and he represents the interests of freedom-loving Venezuelans who are fed up with the tyranny, oppression and genocide of Nicolás Maduro. Only President Guaidó and representatives of his government deserve a seat at the Summit », it was stated in the letter from the representatives of the Republican party.
They also urged President Biden to support the passage of the bipartisan, bicameral Prohibition of Operations and Leases with the Illegitimate Authoritarian Regime of Venezuela (Bolívar) bill, which would prohibit federal agencies from doing business with anyone who support the Maduro administration.

The Bolívar Act, led by Senator Scott and Congressman Waltz, is a bipartisan, bicameral bill that was unanimously approved by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in March 2021.
“This good bill deserves your full support, and enacting it before the Summit would send a strong message of American support and leadership.”
The letter comes after the information that emerged after the meeting of several representatives of the US government with President Nicolás Maduro, which pointed out the possibility of a relaxation of the sanctions against Venezuela; and then also two other letters sent this week to Joe Biden by Venezuelan civil society, in which the first requested the lifting of the sanctions and the second that they be maintained against State officials until a significant political change occurs (return to dialogue, free elections and respect for human rights).
