The opposition sleeps in San Lázaro; begins discussion on the electrical reform

Those from the PRI were the first to arrive, they did so on Saturday afternoon and unfurled a mega banner on the front of the House with the slogan “PRI patriot vote.”

Like them, dozens of workers and advisers from San Lázaro had to stay overnight on the premises.

Protesters on the outskirts of San Lázaro prior to discussion of electrical reform.

In these cases, due to the fear that, due to blockades by citizen organizations –including militants from the Obradorista National Front and the Mexican Union of Electricians (SME)– they would be prevented from passing.

From Morena, the only one who slept in his offices was the president of the board of directors of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Gutiérrez Luna.

The rest of the Morena group stayed at a hotel located in Viaducto and entered San Lázaro on a bus after 9:00 a.m.

For now, the opposition bloc only lost one vote, that of Carlos Aysa Damas -son of former Governor Carlos Miguel Aysa González-, who was already presented on Saturday as a new member of the Morena caucus.

If the numbers remain in both blocks of deputies, for and against the electrical reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, it will be rejected and the discussion and vote could be ready today.
