Covid-19: Brazil records 30.25 million cases and 662 thousand deaths

Provisional measure establishes new rules for the Digital SIM

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Brazil has registered 30,250,077 cases of covid-19 and 661,938 deaths from the disease, according to the epidemiological bulletin released this Saturday (16) by the Ministry of Health. According to the bulletin, there are 29,206,243 people who have recovered from the disease, representing 96.5% of cases. There are also 381,896 cases in follow-up.

The ministry reported that the case numbers for Ceará, the Federal District, Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte and Roraima were not updated. Mato Grosso do Sul did not update the number of deaths.

States

São Paulo is the state that leads the number of cases and deaths, with 5.33 million and 168 thousand, respectively. In terms of number of cases, the Southeast state is followed by Minas Gerais (3.35 million) and Paraná (2.43 million). The Federation units with the lowest number of cases are Acre (123,345), Roraima (155,366) and Amapá (160,369).

The second state in number of deaths is Rio de Janeiro (73,128), followed by Minas Gerais (61,113). The lowest numbers of deaths are in Acre (1,996), Amapá (2,128) and Roraima (2,147).
