In recent weeks, Saime has announced a series of adjustments to be implemented to speed up the issuance and delivery of passports, including that citizens can choose the day of the appointment, and it can be modified only once
The general director of Saime, Gustavo Vizcaíno, reported that passports in custody will generate a tax according to the new regulations, so that those users who do not withdraw the document on time must pay a “fine”.
“It’s a fee that when you go to Saime, the official will calculate it for you and tell you how much you have to pay due to the delay you had to pick up your passport,” said Vizcaíno.
The official described as “incredible” the supposed amount of documents that have not been withdrawn from the offices. “The call is that the Venezuelans are going to withdraw the document if they made the request.”
