MIAMI, United States.- The Human Rights Commissioner of the Ukrainian Parliament, Liudmyla Denisova, denounced that 200 Ukrainian children have been killed since the beginning of the Russian invasion and 360 have been injured.
In this regard, the kyiv Prosecutor’s Office reported that the highest number of victims, including deaths and injuries, is recorded in the kyiv region (121), followed by Donetsk (115), Kharkov (88), Chernihiv (54), Mykolaiv ( 40), Kherson (29), Zaporizhia (22), Sumy (16) and Zytomir (15).
These figures do not yet include the victims in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
For their part, the Ukrainian authorities have so far identified 900 civilians killed during the Russian occupation in the kyiv region alone, including 350 in the town of Bucha, reported the head of the Ukrainian police in this region, Andriy Nebytov.
According to a report by the EFE news agency, almost all of the 900 civilians found in the region surrounding kyiv had been shot to death.
“The presence of gunshot wounds indicates that many were simply executed,” said Nebytov, who explained that the bodies were abandoned in the streets or given summary burials. According to the police, 95% died from gunshot wounds.
Nebytov said that two mass graves were found in the city of Bucha, where a man who worked in public services before the invasion would have buried civilians after asking Russian soldiers to allow him to remove the bodies of people from the streets.
“He buried them in two graves. In the first there were 40 people and in the second 57. And we have already recovered 40 bodies. I want to remind you that our policeman was there. He was a criminal investigation officer and he was also shot with small arms,” he said.
According to several news agencies, the Russian army seems to have stepped up its attacks in Ukraine. Several local media have recorded strong explosions, three Russian air strikes in the kyiv region and other bombings recorded in eastern Ukraine.
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodomir Zelensky said on Saturday that since the beginning of the war there have been between 2,500 and 3,000 soldiers killed in their ranks and about 10,000 wounded.
Ukraine estimates that at least 20,000 Russian soldiers have died since the invasion began, however, the Kremlin has only recognized 1,350 soldiers killed in combat.
