The women had taken over the CNDH building, in the Historic Center of Mexico City, since September 4, 2020 as a claim for justice for the multiple cases of femicide and gender-based violence in the country, where they kill more than 10 women a day.
The objective of the occupation, which caused a national uproar, was to create a safe space where women who had suffered violence could go and receive support of all kinds.
But the CNDH asked the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office this Friday to investigate the group after Thursday’s complaint of the woman who was driving in her car when four hooded women left the building to attack her with pipes.
“This National Commission is concerned about the events that occur within the same place and its surroundings, which have already been documented by several victims both publicly and through reports and complaints,” warned the autonomous body.
