The Catholic Church called today to reject envy and slander to give way to fraternal love, during the celebration of the Chrism Mass, on the occasion of Holy Thursday.
The religious ceremony was headed by Monsignor Francisco Osoria Acosta, Archbishop of Santo Domingo, accompanied by auxiliary bishops Ramón Benito Ángeles, Faustino Burgos, José Amable Durán and Raúl Berzosa.
During the homily, based on the message of Pope Francis, on the occasion of Holy Thursday, it was read by Monsignor Benito Ángeles, auxiliary bishop of Santo Domingo.
Pope Francis invited bishops and priests to be closer to the people.
“The people of God want to find pastors in the style of Jesus,” says the Pope’s message.

The time we live in is not only to detect change, but to welcome it with the awareness that we are facing a change of era”, said Benito Ángeles.
The religious considered that the bishops and priests would do well to ask themselves how they are living closeness with God and with the people.
The Chrism Mass
More than 200 priests from the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo participated in the service of said mass.
The Chrism Mass is one of the acts of Holy Week, where the Church also celebrates the institution of the Eucharist.
The rite of the Chrism Mass includes the renewal of priestly promises.
After the homily, the bishop invites his priests to renew their consecration and dedication to Christ and the Church.
As is tradition, the Catholic Church officiates services in all its dioceses this Holy Week to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Tomorrow, Good Friday, at the First Cathedral of America, there will be the Sermon of the Seven Words, from 1:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon.
The other dioceses join this central activity and later each one offers a liturgy for the passion of Christ.
This is prostration, stations of the cross, universal prayer, veneration of the Holy Cross and Holy Communion, marches in silence, simulated burial.
