The PGR incinerates more than a thousand kilograms of drugs

La PGR incinera más de mil kilogramos de drogas

The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) incinerated more than a thousand kilograms of drugs, mainly cocaine, seized in different operations carried out in San Pedro de Macorís and La Altagracia.

In total, 1,179,556 kilograms of different narcotic substances were burned, explains the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in a report through which it offered the details of the process.

The forensic body in charge of burning the drugs indicated that this amount includes 1,100,499 kilograms of cocaine, equivalent to 93.30%, and 78,841 kilograms of marijuana, with 6.68%, as well as 213 grams of crack, for 0.02%, and 3 grams of ecstasy, accounting for 0.0003%.

Members of the National Directorate for Drug Control and the Public Ministry occupied the narcotics in the aforementioned provinces and other parts of the country, within the framework of the strategies that they jointly implement against this scourge.

The event, held at the Dominican Army compound in the Pedro Brand municipality, was attended by representatives of the aforementioned institutions and other bodies in charge of combating this illegal activity.

The Attorney General’s Office highlighted in the press release through which it offered the information, that so far this year a total of 11,998,553 kilograms of drugs have been incinerated, most of it cocaine, with 9,472,310 kilograms.
