The first lady Raquel Arbaje and the coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet Tony Peña, began this Friday the execution of the “Transforming My Country” program in Monte Plata and gave the first peck of a project that will rebuild the homes of people in conditions of social vulnerability. extreme.
With this initiative, the Government projects an investment of RD$29,870,000 in the initial stage of the “Transforming My Country” program in this province.
The beneficiaries will receive bonuses from 50,000 to 150,000 pesos that must be spent on the purchase of construction materials for the reconstruction of their homes, which will be done under the direction and supervision of the Social Policy Cabinet.
During the activity, Tony Peña said that the program is being executed successfully in the Barahona province and that it intends to be extended to all the provinces.
In addition, he emphasized that for the execution of this program several inter-institutional agreements have been signed, such as the most recent, with the Federation of Workers of the Construction Industry, to guarantee that the workers who participate in the construction of houses are from the province. and that the purchase of materials be made in local businesses.
“We continue working to bring the friendly hand of the government of President Luis Abinader to this province. In an initial stage we are going to build 500 houses, but our goal is to reach a thousand homes. In addition, we will continue to come to Monte Plata with the other initiatives carried out by the Social Cabinet. We have already inaugurated three training centers of the “Opportunity 14-24″ program, we have brought million-dollar donations of medicines and we will continue with the new programs to improve the quality of life of Dominicans in conditions of extreme social vulnerability,” said Peña.
Meanwhile, the first lady Raquel Arbaje said that, for the Government headed by President Luis Abinader, it is a priority that the greatest number of Dominican men and women live in a decent home, and that is why they work tirelessly from various institutions that have among its responsibilities is to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable.
“Transforming My Country” is an example of the actions carried out by the Government. Thanks to this, here in Monte Plata, almost 30 million pesos will be invested in repairing houses in poor condition, so that those who inhabit them can live in better conditions,” said Arbaje.
About the program “Transforming My Country”
This program is a national plan that seeks to rebuild around 30,000 homes throughout the national territory and has the support of the Presidency of the Republic, the Social Policy Cabinet, the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, the Presidential Office for Provincial Development, among other institutions.
The reconstruction of the houses will be done through a new subsidy created by the Dominican Government that will be delivered by the Social Policy Cabinet in coordination with the Social Subsidy Administrator (ADESS) and the provincial governments.
