After 44 days of paralysis, the social conflict in Cuajone, Moqueguacould come to an end after a day of dialogue and agreements between the PCMmining representatives Southern Peru and the peasant community of Tumilaca, Pocata, Coscore and Tala.
Consulted by this newspaper, the prefect of Moquegua, Edgar Rea, reported that yesterday the parties showed willingness to dialogue and signed a memorandum of agreements, in which the installation of a dialogue table is agreed, which will be made official with the publication of a resolution of the Secretariat of Social Management and Dialogue of the PCM.
In this way, the Executive will deliver today a draft of the aforementioned resolution. If the parties agree with the text, the community members will lift the force measure and allow the supply of water to the mining center of Cuajone, which houses 5,000 people.
Likewise, Southern Peru undertakes to lift the complaints filed with the Prosecutor’s Office or any legal or judicial action filed against the community. Likewise, they undertook to manage, before third parties, the withdrawal and withdrawal of other legal actions.
The meeting was held in the presence of a large part of the peasant community. The High Level Commission was made up of the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Bettsy Chávez; the Deputy Minister of Territorial Governance of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Jesús Quispe; the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Kensi Mayta Samaniego; and the participation of representatives of the Regional Government and the Ombudsman’s Office.
