The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) summoned the Chavista forces to a mobilization this Wednesday to commemorate the 20th anniversary of April 13, 2002, when President Hugo Chávez returned to power after the coup that took place two days before. .
The information was released by the Vice President of Mobilization and Events of the PSUV, Pedro Infante, who held a meeting to coordinate the march together with the commanders of the Strategic Regions of Integral Defense (REDI).
Together with the REDI Commanders from each of the states and the national mobilization team, we held a meeting to plan and organize every detail of the upcoming march on April 13. The people and the militia will march in perfect union to Miraflores!” Infante said in a message posted on Twitter.
April 13, also known as National Dignity Day, was the day when Chávez returned to power after a coup that overthrew him for 47 hours and had the support of the Venezuelan right wing, business sectors, military and the United States government.
Regarding these dates, President Nicolás Maduro affirmed this Monday that the government coup it was “decided, prepared and executed from the White House” after contacting members of the Armed Forces.
«At the moment in which North American imperialism decided to advance towards a coup d’état, they were contacted, captured, articulated; and that April 11, in the early morning of April 12, everyone showed their horrific face as traitors to support the coup d’état », he said.
Wednesday also marks the Day of the Bolivarian Militia, decreed by Commander Chavez, to honor the union between the people and soldiers who defeated the coup.
