Former President Donald Trump remains very popular with Republican voters in key states ahead of the midterm elections in November.
Nearly 4 in 5 Republican voters surveyed in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania rated Trump favorably, according to polls from Morning Consult made last month.
The former president had a slightly higher preference in Georgia (86%) and North Carolina (87%), while in Ohio and Pennsylvania it was 80% and 77%, respectively.
Each of those states has significant Senate races that Trump has gotten into or is considering endorsing a Republican candidate.
Polls suggest Trump-backed candidates in those states could benefit greatly from the former president’s support, even as some of his recent endorsements have fizzled.
But the extent to which Trump’s approval will transfer to his constituents remains to be seen. Trump’s popularity in the four states has remained about the same since he left office, the Morning Consult said.
In North Carolina, Trump endorsed Rep. Ted Budd (R) for the Senate seat to be vacated by retiring Sen. Richard Burr (R).
In Pennsylvania, Trump recently endorsed former TV host Mehmet Oz (R) to replace outgoing Sen. Pat Toomey (R).
He also endorsed former football star Herschel Walker in Georgia’s race against Sen. Raphael Warnock.
Trump has yet to endorse a candidate in the battle for Ohio, but several have caught his eye.
Morning Consult surveyed at least 855 registered Republican voters in each state from March 1-20. The margin of error for each poll is about 3.7 percentage points.
