Some 30,000 people left the country during the weekend in which Holy Week began, which for Uruguayans is rather seen as Tourism Week since it is the end of good weather before winter sets in.
According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, 28,587 people left through the different borders, of which 25,912 are Uruguayan nationals. The second group are Argentines, who added 1,546, and the third are Brazilians, who totaled 415 until Sunday. 129 were Colombians and 80 Venezuelans. 505 people are of other minority nationalities.
The main exit border was at Rio Branco, through which 5,551 people crossed, followed by Colonia del Sacramento, through which 4,874 individuals passed. 2,349 people traveled from Carrasco International Airport.
Long lines were reported at the Fray Bentos, Paysandú and Salto bridges, which cross into Argentina, due to the different migration procedures that must be done. Although the health restrictions due to COVID-19 have been relaxed quite a bit in both countries, people who wish to cross still must meet immigration requirements that are not clear to all.
“From the National Directorate of Migration, it is recalled that for the return, an affidavit of health must be presented where the vaccines are included, while those who are not vaccinated must present a negative PCR test or antigen up to 72 hours after admission,” the Ministry reported. of the Uruguayan interior.
