At the end of the ordinary period in the Senate, which only has six sessions left, the senators will leave a host of pending issues, including more than 50 appointments, including those of 18 local electoral magistrates, two commissioners from the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI), as well as members of autonomous organizations.

Returning on the 19th, after the Easter megabridge they took, the senators are going to focus on the discussion of the electrical reform, in case it happens in San Lázaro, and on unburdening the appointments of ambassadors who have not yet voted , including that of Nicaragua, as well as trying to resolve the case of the two INAI commissioners.

According to the parliamentary groups, it is unlikely that the appointments of the 18 magistrates of electoral tribunals of 17 states of the Republic will be obtained, since the eligibility ruling was presented by the Justice Commission in October of last year after interviewing to 248 candidates and review their documentation.

It was not possible to vent in that period of sessions that concluded on December 15 last and neither in the one that ends on April 30, despite the fact that they are the magistrates who are going to qualify the elections for governors, municipal presidencies and local congresses in 2024. The problem is that a qualified majority is required and Morena has not obtained the votes of the opposition. The ruling has been in the Political Coordination Board for six months, chaired by Ricardo Monreal, who is trying to negotiate, without success, with the PAN, PRI, MC and PRD bloc.

The same occurs with 15 magistrates of the Federal Court of Fiscal and Administrative Justice. In the case of the five pending directors of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the call for registration of candidates has not even been launched.
