The deputy of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) Gualberto Arispe stated this Tuesday that neither the legislators nor the leadership of the Six Federations of the Cochabamba Tropics have confidence in the national director of the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (Felcn), José María Velasco, because he acts with a “double edge”, since he was a member of the “de facto government”.

“We are being very open, neither the leadership (of the Six Federations of the Tropics) nor the deputies are going to cover up these facts. We don’t have confidence, here you can be acting double-edged to make us look bad. The Minister of Government (Eduardo del Castillo) for ethics and morals should have already changed his national director of the Felcn, we do not understand under what criteria this commander has been appointed, “said Arispe at a press conference.

He even pointed out that the Minister of Government should have already dismissed Velasco because they do not understand how he was appointed to the position of national director.

He even pointed out that rumors and “hypotheses” reached them that there are people who are involved in drug trafficking, extortion and who are currently part of the Felcn again.

“If these hypotheses are confirmed, it is too serious, because we do not have confidence in their national director (of the Felcn), because he was also a staff member of the de facto government and in that sense we are being affected as a region, but above all by the persecution and the attack comes systematically against our brother Evo Morales”, insisted the Cochabamba legislator.

Yesterday, former President Morales presented four audio recordings of conversations supposedly held on March 25, in which alleged anti-narcotics police officers are ordered to abort the destruction of a drug mega-factory in the Valle Sajta region, in Cochabamba, which makes it presume that it was with other drug trafficking protection purposes.

Arispe said that the Tropic region of Cochabamba received a lot of criticism for the issue of drug trafficking, but they see that there are Felcn officers who try to cover up crimes, in which they even suspect that an official from the Ministry of Government is involved.

“It is presumed, it is a hypothesis and this the investigations will show, that on that day (the day the conversation between two alleged uniformed men was recorded) the Minister of Government was in Chimoré, that draws our attention a lot. We have always been with the policy of fighting drug trafficking and this time we are not going to remain silent, “he said.

He demanded that an investigation be opened and that if the Felcn is found responsible, they be prosecuted and punished.

Deputy Héctor Arce (MAS) said that it is not possible for a colonel to instruct the removal of law enforcement from a mega-factory, and that, in his opinion, everything was aimed at damaging Evo’s image and stigmatizing the Tropics of Cochabamba.

“Honestly, I think there is an idea there to damage the image of Evo Morales and to stigmatize the Cochabamba Tropic region, because Evo is from there, just like Andrónico Rodríguez or Leonardo Loza, and I feel that there is a black hand that is doing this type of work in an interested way. In recent months we have seen the right, the opposition, the United States, attack the MAS,” Arce said.
