Chile announces for May 1 the reopening of the land border with Peru

The Chilean government announced today the reopening of the land border with Peru as of May 1 through a statement from the National Directorate of Borders and Limits of the State of the Foreign Ministry of that country.

The document details that the Chilean Ministry of Health To respond to national and international epidemiological contingencies in a global context of fewer infections, it has developed new measures to control national borders.

Conditions for passenger transit

In this framework, the transit of people may be carried out without additional restriction to: 1) the mandatory traveler declaration (COVID-19 request or self-report), 2) the requirement of vaccination upon entry or the voluntary homologation of the vaccine and 3) eventually be randomly selected for a diagnostic test (PCR or antigen).

The governor of Arica and Parinacota Jorge Díaz confirmed the announcement of the reopening of all borders, including those with Peru and Bolivia.
