The ambassador appointed by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Swiss Confederation, Roy Chaderton Matos, presented his credentials to the Government of this central European country on Tuesday, during a protocol ceremony held in the city of Bern.
The experienced diplomat and lawyer has represented Venezuela in Poland, Germany, Belgium and at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) in New York. In 1985 he was appointed Ambassador of Venezuela to Gabon and later to Norway with concurrence in Iceland.
In 1990 he was appointed Sector General Director of International Policy and in 2001 he was appointed Ambassador to Colombia. From 2002 to 2004 he held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs; from 2004 to 2007, he was Ambassador of Venezuela in France and later, Ambassador of Venezuela in Mexico (2006-2007).
Before his appointment in Bern, he held the position of General Director of the “Pedro Gual” Institute of Advanced Diplomatic Studies, attached to the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
The credentials of the Venezuelan Ambassador were received by the president of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, at the Federal Palace.
