The National Assembly (AN) will present this Wednesday a Draft Agreement to demand respect for the diplomatic status of Alex Nain Saab Morán, who is being held hostage in the United States.
According to the agenda, published by Parliament, this Wednesday’s session will be held in the Protocol Chamber of the Federal Legislative Palace, in Caracas.
Saab was illegally held in Cape Verde in 2020, while on a diplomatic mission, so since then the Government of Venezuela has denounced his illegal kidnapping.
Alex Saab collaborated with Venezuela to find new methods to acquire basic products necessary for the population, after the sanctions and coercive measures that the United States has applied against the country.
Saab defense will present arguments on his immunity
The defense of Alex Saab presents this April 6 before the court of appeals in Atlanta (Georgia), the oral arguments on the diplomatic immunity of the Special Envoy of Venezuela, after several requests for delay by the US Department of Justice (DOJ for its acronym in English), according to information from his defense team.
Saab “cannot be prosecuted or prosecuted in any way”, because this would affect “the viability of the international system. Which requires absolute inviolability of ambassadors and special envoys,” said US attorney David Rivkin of Alex Saab’s defense team.
