Former Buenos Aires lieutenant governor Graciela Giannettasio passed away

Giannettasio was born on October 20, 1950.

The Peronist leader Graciela Giannettasiowho was deputy governor of Buenos Aires in the mandate of Felipe Solá and Minister of Education of the Nation during the presidency of Eduardo Duhalde, passed away this Tuesday at 71 years old.

“We deeply regret the death of Dr. Graciela Giannettasio, a political leader committed to education. We accompany family and friends at this sad moment,” wrote the Minister of Education Jaime Perczyk on his personal Twitter account.

Giannettasio was born on October 20, 1950 in Remedios de Escalada, in the Province of Buenos Aires.

From the senators of the Frente de Todos bloc, they expressed their “profound pain” for the departure of Dr. Graciela Giannettasio, a Peronist leader, former lieutenant governor of the province of Buenos Aires and national minister of education.

“The block of senators from Buenos Aires from the Frente de Todos express our deep sorrow for the departure of Dr. Graciela Giannettasio. A great companion and leader of Peronism, a woman of strong convictions who, in moments of institutional need, presided over the Chamber of Senators of Buenos Aires. Those of us who had the honor of going through political activity with her know of her commitment to the people of Buenos Aires, today we say goodbye and we will remember her with great affection,” they said in a statement issued jointly by the ruling bloc.

And they added: “In this moment of sadness and consternation we extend our condolences to her husband, her daughters and her dear and dear colleagues from Varela.”

A lawyer by profession, Giannetassio twice held the position of national deputy for the province of Buenos Aires, between 1999 and 2002, and then from 2007 to 2015.

She also developed professionally as Minister of Education, Science and Technology of the Nation (2002-2003) and as Deputy Governor of the Buenos Aires territory (2003 and 2007).
