Senator Jorge Querey stated that “we must recognize that what was done with the fuel issue was in a context of conflict due to the just demands of the labor sectors involved and the citizens of the abrupt rise. It has a very short-term goal, two to three months.”
It was reaffirmed that the State also has the capacity and the constitutional possibility to intervene in all matters that mean the well-being of its citizens and attend to crisis situations. “Therefore we are going to discuss this supposed unconstitutionality raised by some sectors interested in not having this type of state intervention,” he said.
Querey stated that “there are two issues to be considered, one is the continuous monitoring of the international situation and how the different effects of this intersect, the Ukrainian-Russian war, what effect it has on oil, financial transfer, logistics that means an impact for our society and to be able to take the corresponding initiatives, and secondly, those who have informed me that the only way that they have occurred in another situation of oil crisis and the abrupt rise in prices is what is called the break in demand , that is, to generate an alternative to energy use; alcohol plan, biofuels plan, solar energy, discussion of other markets”.
The legislator explained that through the Board of Directors they are asking the Executive for an initiative to discuss technicians and legal experts in such a way that we can visualize steps to overcome or mitigate the effects of the fuel increase.
We request through the board of directors an initiative of the Legislature that can put us to discuss with technicians and legal experts in such a way that we can take steps that we are in a position to overcome or mitigate effects regarding the increase in fuel.
