This is how the parking model will work on Bogotá's roads: the stocks would return

As of this Tuesday, November 2, the new parking model in Bogotá’s roads will officially begin, under which the stocks for the badly parked would return.

The Ministry of Mobility prepares a resolution to revive this tool, also known as parking stock, which works as a wheel lock and is an effective device for immobilization and protection of the vehicle.

The idea of this measure is to prevent citizens from occupying public space and parking their cars where they do not belong.

The resolution establishes that once the traffic officer detects the wrongly parked vehicle, it will be immobilized with a blocking order.

In the process, as it was known, there must always be a transit agent who “will install the corresponding stocks “, leaving the blocking order in the vehicle ”.

However, it clarifies that if the driver of the vehicle appears before the installation of the device, the vehicle will not be blocked, but will have a subpoena order from the traffic authority.

On the other hand, if the device was installed in the vehicle, the The driver of the vehicle should be contacted through the service channels arranged by the SDM to be unlocked. In this case, the subpoena order will be imposed.

The traps may not be installed in vehicles that are obstructing the pedestrian crossing and endangering their safety. In this event, the traffic agent must request the tow truck service and will arrange its transfer to the patios.

The turn of the stocks is given before the implementation of the charging model for on-street parking in Bogotá.

The Transport Terminal will be in charge of managing the charge for on-street parking in Bogotá, which according to the resolution will open with a first polygon located in the town of Chapinero between streets 94 and 76 and between Carrera 11 and Autopista Norte.

Rates vary by area. In summary, this will be the rate:

Cars:

Time of stay of up to two hours: each fraction of 30 minutes is worth 3,000 pesos.

Time of permanence of more than two hours: each fraction of 30 minutes is worth 4,600 pesos.

Motorcycles:

Stay time of up to two hours: each fraction of 30 minutes is worth 2,100 pesos.

Time of permanence of more than two hours: each fraction of 30 minutes is worth 3,200 pesos.

For example, if you are going to park your car for 1 hour, in that case it would cost you 6,000 pesos because you pay two fractions of 30 minutes under the rate of delaying less than two hours. But, if it is going to take 3 hours, You would not pay six fractions of 30 minutes at 3,000 pesos each, but at 4,600 pesos each (because you are going to pay the fee for delaying more than two hours), that is, you would pay 27,600 pesos.

In terms of schedules, the pilot will take place from Monday to Friday: from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm
