Public transport users will be able to take relief since after an agreement between the carriers and the Government there will be no strike, nor increase in the ticket.
The carriers accepted an $8 million subsidy to combat the high cost of fuel.
According to the director of the Land Transit and Transportation Authority (ATTT), Carlos Ordoñez, this money will be distributed in the selective and collective sector and added to the $3 million that had been given would be a total of $11 million, to prevent carriers increase the passage to users.
In addition, this agreement contemplates that customs duties on parts, spare parts and vehicle spare parts are exempted through Customs.
In this agreement signed by the ATTT, the National Chamber of Transportation (Canatra), the Interior Transportation Council (Cotradin) users, and the Ombudsman’s Office as guarantor, the possibility was established that a percentage of the Digital Voucher works to carry out the payment of selective transport and in order to implement payment after collective transport.
Faced with this new agreement, the leader of the National Chamber of Transport in West Panama, Jorge Dimas, said that they must meet with the bases to determine whether or not the agreement with the authorities is endorsed.
He assured that tonight they will make a decision on the matter.
