President Mulino discusses with businessmen strategies to attract foreign investment

During the inauguration of the new Executive Center of the Central American Institute of Business Administration (INCAE), the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, met with business leaders to address strategic issues that seek to strengthen Panama’s position as a pole of attraction for companies in the region.

In his speech, Mulino emphasized the importance of INCAE in the training of world-class business leaders, highlighting how this institution enhances the connection with South America and the Caribbean. This, in turn, facilitates knowledge sharing and forges a legacy of collaboration between the government and the private sector, essential for establishing transnational operations in the country. “The role of education and training of human resources is crucial.

We cannot move towards the future of Panama with an education that looks to the past,” stated the president, underlining the need for trained personnel to allow the country’s growth in a competitive global environment. In addition, he mentioned the national strategy focused on the logistics and maritime sector as key to development.

Mulino also addressed social security reforms, admitting that these carry a political cost, but are necessary to safeguard the pension program and guarantee an attractive financial system for foreign investment. The president announced that on December 5, Panama will join Mercosur, an achievement that highlights the country’s geographical advantage as a trading partner. In addition, he spoke with investors about projects such as sulfur processing, the signing of a Free Trade Agreement with China and the reactivation of the Chiriquí-Panama railway, initiatives that promote regional competitiveness. Enrique Bolaños, rector of the INCAE School, highlighted that the new facilities represent a significant advance in the mission of expanding the educational excellence of the institution and strengthening its presence in Central America.

During the opening ceremony, the donor plaque was presented in recognition of those who supported this project, with special thanks to Liberty for their collaboration. The new Executive Center will begin its academic activities on April 29, 2024, while the adaptation of the facility in the Business Park of Panama City is completed. The facilities are designed to provide an innovative learning environment, fostering collaboration between the future leaders who will be trained at this educational center.
