ToThe American band Foo Fighters announced the cancellation of all scheduled tour dates “in light of the disconcerting loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins”.
Hawkins, the 50-year-old drummer of the Grammy-winning rock groupdied over the weekend in a Bogotá hotel shortly before the band was due to perform at the Festival Estéreo Picnic, on the outskirts of the city.
“We feel and share the disappointment of not seeing each other as planned,” the band wrote in a statement posted on social media.
“Let’s take this time to cryto heal, to get closer to our loved ones, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.”
Preliminary toxicological tests determined that Hawkins had traces of drugs in his systemincluding opioids, but the Colombian investigators did not specify whether the consumption of these substances caused his death.
As part of one of the most influential and critically acclaimed alternative rock bands, Hawkins was known for his charisma on stage and his inspired rhythms into the classic rock of legends like Phil Collins and Roger Taylor of Queen.
